The latest KenPom.com ratings for the 2024-25 season place Tennessee at No. 13 overall, showing strong potential for another competitive year. The Vols come in at No. 4 in adjusted defensive efficiency, continuing their tradition of defensive excellence, and rank No. 35 in adjusted offensive efficiency.
Last season, Tennessee finished No. 5 overall in KenPom, with the defense ranked at No. 3 and the offense at No. 28. The 2024-25 rankings are topped by Houston, followed by Duke, Auburn, Alabama, and UConn in the top five. Kansas, Iowa State, Arizona, Gonzaga, and Purdue round out the top 10. Tennessee sits just behind No. 11 Baylor and No. 12 Creighton, but one spot ahead of No. 14 North Carolina. Among SEC teams, the Vols rank third behind Auburn and Alabama, which speaks to the strength of the conference this year.
Tennessee faces a tough schedule, with 14 games against top-50 KenPom opponents. These matchups include No. 3 Auburn, No. 4 Alabama, No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 18 Texas, No. 23 Illinois, No. 25 Arkansas, and No. 28 Florida (twice). They’ll also take on No. 32 Mississippi State, No. 40 Oklahoma, No. 42 Kentucky (twice), and No. 47 Ole Miss. Additionally, the Vols are set to face either No. 11 Baylor or No. 19 St. John’s in the Baha Mar tournament.
Tennessee’s schedule also features 10 games against teams ranked between No. 51 and No. 100, including LSU, Missouri, Miami, Louisville, and South Carolina. The Vols will have seven non-conference home games against lower-ranked teams, providing opportunities to build momentum.
